"where is bowling?"
oh gosh! there goes my english. it seems that i have successfully mastered a new language, konish. i meant to ask ' where is the bowling alley?' but nevermind, i was quickly answered followed by a weird expression from irene.

the date is 20060103, tues and today is the last day in korea for irene and me. we were meant to skate with some korean friends but we did not. instead we went for bowling and had fun. we had pabing su before departing on separate ways.

the atmosphere was indescribable. everyone is trying to hold back their tears. we joked and laughed but deep inside we knew the day had come for us to part. we would not be able see each other for a few months at least.

what we are experiencing is exactly like any typical korean drama where friends have to part because they simply have to. i think this is what love is capable of doing. love makes one long for another when it is only a short departure. if another ask me the impression i have on korea, i will definitely say, the people. the type of friendship experience in korea is something unique to me. yes unique. everyone is like a big family, sharing food and cracking jokes. perhaps i have made an unfair statement because such relationships do exist in my hometown. unfortunately, people are too busy with themselves to notice it.

friendship should be like pabing su. everyone is different but neccessary to form a whole. eventually the difference become one throught mixing and blending. whoever claimed that friendship are only to be exploited ought to have themselves examined. whatever it is, the korean are certainly strong in these fundamental areas. (i recall the times i used nothing but sounds and gesture to communicate to my korean friend who understood no english.) my heart softened and eyes swollen.

signing off with love at 3:00 PM
