Yesterday was fun.
We had a great time together after a busy week.
So who was there? Alvin, Jeffrey, Yixin, Daryl, Dian Ngiap, Hong Wei, Dorcas, Brendan, Brenda, Penny, Geraldine, Gracia, Jessie and etc etc etc etc....
We played badminton at Gek Poh CC. Then they came over to my house for snacks and fellowship. We had french fries, nuggets, pizzas and cheese cakes. Yummy! Then we talk and laugh and talk and laugh and talk and laugh then we played left4dead and dota. It was fun and I am going to do it again.

Ya! Next Friday, 04-09-09, I will be having BBQ at my place. All are welcome!
(But please let me know in advance so I can prepare the food!)
Study is important but is stressful so let us come together to have fun, release tension..... then go back to study again.
see ya. haha

Amazing, amazing simply amazing.
What else can I say, that teacher which I wrote in my last post had changed overnight.
Her lesson is... different. Ok I kind of like her and her lesson now and she is full of smile. Well she can be very strict sometimes and blunt but it is different. There is a different spirit in her. I almost want to go to her to tell her how beautiful her smile is.

What else can I say? Prayer works or God is in control?
Whatever it is, Dorcas jokingly commented, "she is either touched by God or she has read my blog."

All glory to God

Life as a student in NIE
I would not say it is totally fun, neither will i say that it is totally boring. It is just 'like that lor'. I suppose life as a student again is not the same, me; an old student, trying to remember my stuff, especially my sec 1 Maths. Thank God there is no test, only written report. So no need to memorise a lot of things. But still cannot escape Maths TEST. As much as I wish there is no test for Maths, I got 3, one per month. Other than that, there are a lot of readings to do, syllabus to catch up. That's why I hardly even blog.

Things are pretty straight forward, I go to school, I listen in lecture, I ask question, sometimes I disturb the class a little with my new friends, then I go home, do my reading, do my homework, and tend to my 'farm' and 'fishes'. Then I woke up the next day doing the same thing again. Except for weekend when I can go church! Yippee. Or occasionally some dota match with my 'paper' computer. What a life.

Professors and teachers. Most are great inspiring and entertaining. But I cannot say the same for one. There is this one that really test my patience. There are so many time I want to stand up in class and ask that teacher to chill. I wanted to ask her, "What's your problem..." But I pray God will give me compassion and understanding. Whatever it is, she will still be my role model; I try to be everything she is not.

I guess doing Art and Maths is really cool, like Leonardo Da Vinci. Maybe I can be like him, trying to be the genius that he was. What a dream! But let me first train up the muscle of the left-hemisphere of my brain, then we'll talk. I totally forgot about my Maths and I need to refresh my 'O' level Maths in the shortest time possible. Any tutor to recommend? It was horrific but I'm sure God will help me do it.

So how much do I want to get for my overall exam? I'm not sure, I guess I'll just do my best. I'll just aim to teach in Raffles, that will a great motivation for me!!!

Wish me all the best!

DO YOUR BEST (in everything you do and I mean everything)

"Do your best" only for the important things is risky.
Most people just do their best for tasks that are perceived as important but here is the catch, which one of them is important?
Is preparing for your examination more important than doing your household chore?
Or is serving in a church more important than in a school?
The truth of the matter is that if you're going to do your best only for tasks that are important, you may just miss the whole picture. How can you be so sure? You can be wrong.
The million dollar question here: how can you know which one is more important than the other.
And the answer: You will NEVER know.
The fact is that in most cases, people misjudge and "do their best" for things that they thought are very important but actually are not. In the end, they loose everything they worked so hard for.

"Do your best" reflects an important attitude - FAITHFULNESS
Faithful people do their best to make sure that their tasks are delivered the best it can be. Faithfulness is displayed when people regards every tasks that are given to them as their own. And with that attitude, they will respect and treat every tasks as important. With faithfulness comes results; results which are not ordinary but those that break records and all expectation.
Unfaithful people do otherwise and they cannot amount much.
That's why it is important to do your best in everything because even the smallest task matters.

People who "do their best" are winners
because they are dependable. These are people others can trust to do their best no matter what. Not only will they finish the tasks, they will produce the most remarkable results.

So "do your best" in everything.
Do your best to be the best student, even when you are in the last class.
Do your best to be the best worker, even when your boss is mean.
Do your best to be the best child, even when your parents don't understand you.
Do your best to be the best friend, even when they take advantages of you.

Do you BEST even when you may not be the best, you'll emerge to be the WINNER.

If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won't be honest with greater responsibilities - Luke 16:10 (TLT)
And these are the people that God can trust... amen!

Stress from work, stress from home, stress from School

I was told of an unfortunate swearing incident by a teacher in school. In another quarrel drama, a female teacher was attacked by a student with her flying kick. Years later and this teacher commited sucided. Sad....

What causes all these?
STRESS
A word that is familiar to many

But before we even start to discuss about what stress is, (because you can find 101 definitions and reasons for stress in the Internet) I think we should identify the source of stress. and I think the source lies in us.
The primary reason why we behave the way we behave is because we are stress. It is not entirely by others but is mostly by ourselves. People rarely think about self-induced stress. Most usually blamed others.

"If he has finished his part of the assignment on time, I will not be so stress."
"If they have not given me so many problems, my life would have been much easier."

But think about this...
The truth of the matter is we are actually the one giving stress to ourselves. No one can stress us but we stress ourselves.

For students,
"Oh my gosh, I'm not such a popular person in class, maybe I shall talk more and make more noise before I go unnoticed."
So now you are hurt because you thought nobody notices you. You are unhappy because you thought you do not have friends. You are angry because no one cares about you!!! AND YOU ARE STRESSED!!!

For teachers,
"I must be really lousy that my class is making so much noise. I cannot control them. They are like monkeys."
Come'on teachers, if you have done your best, you have done your part. If your class happens to be the notorious ones, probably the whole school will know about it. So if you manage the class well, good. If you can't, seek help. If it still doesn't work, nobody is going to label you as inferior.

So finally what must we do? Stop stressing ourselves. I do not mean stress is evil. Some form of stress are good. Stress from doing your maths assignment or stress from a presentation is good. Because it helps to mould us to become the person God wants us to be. But please don't overstress yourself at the end of the day.

And if you are a believer (aka christian), you can always count on God Jesus Christ because...
In God I have put my trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? - PSALM 56:11
I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust." -PSALM91:2
